What Now At Shantytown

 What Now

At school Ms Kemp surprised us with a What Now event and because of COVID only one hundred people were allowed to be there. Only the What Now crew, Room 8, Room 7, Karoro School teachers and others were allowed in Shantytown. It was on Sunday 13th September 2020 and we had to be there at 7am in the morning. The filming started at 8am and it finished at 10am. I went there with Billie, Billie, Summer and Emma.

When we got there we had to wait at the train station for a while to give Ms Kemp our forms and then we put our bags in the church. After we went back to the train station we talked to Erin (presenter), Matt (camera man), Matt (prop maker) and Morgan (director). Once we got on the train we did a practice run and after we did a part of the live video.

The next event we did was Say It Don’t Spray It . It was held outside the fire station and Emma, Jordan, Mea, Lucy and Zade were on it. The thing they had to say was ‘Sheila seldom sells shelled shrimps in Shantytown’. When they didn’t say it right they got sprayed with foam.

We went gold panning in the gold panning area and we pretended to watch a movie in the movie theatre too. All of us did target the teacher which was outside of the Shantytown school yard. Ms Newton had to sit in the chair and answer questions. When she got a question right we got sprayed with foam and when she got it wrong we had to throw a ball at a target. When it was the last part of filming Erin got the foam gun and made it snow foam outside of the post office.

My favourite part was when Mrs Newton got a big bucket of gunge tipped on her and when we all got sprayed with foam at the end. I wish that there were more things to do because only a few people got to participate in Say It Don’t Spray It and throwing a ball at the target. I had lots of fun and I thought it was cool how Erin would change her outfit each time.
